Show EE-SAW Well, sir, who in the blue blazes does a certain Salt Lake cop think he is by telling one businessman 1 that he can't display his hardware hard-ware in front of his store? In fact, if this certain hardware dealer puts his lawnmowers, garden gar-den tools or other items out in front to display them, this captain of police threatened to send out a truck and haul the stuff away No less than 11 other stores in the Sugar House area were counted with their merchandise prominently displayed on the sidewalks the very same day this haul-away threat was made. The police captain passed the buck to City Commissioner Ben Dingenfelter "who is running the show as long as he is in office." Commissioner Lingenfelter was defeated at the city election, but, the copper opined, Ben would restrict re-strict some businessmen and their displays, close his eyes to others. Seems now is a good time to have Mayor Glade's attention called to this discrimination, and see to it that what is unfair for one should be the same for at least eleven others or else to lift the ban on the one, if it is ok for the others to display their wares on city sidewalks. |
