Show GUARD RECORD GOOD IN 1955 The year 1955 will come to a close Saturday with the Utah National Na-tional Guard in a new high national na-tional standing. The National Guard Bureau in the Pentagon reported the Utah Army Guard now stands in fifth place in the nation with 74.6 per cent of its authorized strength. "This year has been a record year for the Utah National Guard in many ways," said Brig. Gen. Maxwell E. Rich, Utah adjutant general. A record goal of hacking 12 miles of rough-cut jeep trail was accomplished from Brighton to Midway during the 1955 summer encampment of guard engineers in June. A 30-station amateur radio network net-work MARS, was begun in November No-vember in Guard units throughout the state. These stations will be used in event of military or civil emergencies. |
