Show ROTARY HEARS OF PARLEY HIGHLIGHTS A bit of the Rotary International convention in Mexico City was recreated re-created last Thursday at the Sugar House Rotary club meeting. Local President Al Hibbard asked several local members to read speeches which were given at the international convention, and he himself presented a few of the convention highlights. Theodore Jorgensen read the welcoming speech given originally by President Miguel Aleman of Mexico. Dr. Poulsen Hunter read the address made by Frankie Spain, past president of the Rotary International. Winston Thatcher read the speech of Webb Follin who told the Rotarians that it is natural for people to react to the needs of other human beings, and to want to relieve suffering. He stated stat-ed that if such natural reactions are stifled by the individual, that individual suffers from it Genevive Lawrence, whose paintings are displayed at Nilson Furniture company at the present time, also spoke to the group, and invited members to see the display at the furniture store. |
