Personalities Nursing Service Fills Her Life There's Mrs. Harry "Nellie" Herring, house wife, whose career ca-reer of nursing has led her into a most worthwhile hobby of "volunteer "vol-unteer hospital worker." As an unaffiliated member of the Holladay Post American Legion Le-gion Auxiliary, Nellie will receive re-ceive her 1000 hour pin and will be named "Volunteer Worker of the Year," at ceremonies at the Veteran's Hospital. A British immigrant, she came to US in 1922. Nellie received her nurses's education and used her training to help the sick, not for recognition or personal gain but as a volunteer wherever needed. She has spent hours visiting a single unresponsive patient and at her own request has taken patients into her home for week Nellie Herring, Woman of the Week, Honored by American Legion Auxiliary. Her volunteer services have given her a full life even on duty for there are times when mixing with people has called for playing cards, round dancing, chatting and dancing in the intensive treatment wards or sewing on "operation needle and thread." Completely human and completely complete-ly versatile, Nellie fills in where-ever where-ever and whenever the need calls. Nellie is always busy, with her home life, hobbies of crocheting and is a member of the L D S church and also belongs to a bridge club. The volunteer of the year is chosen nationally in United States, Hawaii and Phillipines. She and her husband, who she gives much credit for his moral support in her endeavors, make their home at 845 E. 9th So. i So, to Nellie, for the many things she is accomplishing, a King's Ransom.
