Show Four-day Celebration Packed With Gala Events For Young and Old Alike in Sugar House With an established reputation of "doing things right," Sugar House got off to a flying start in its four-day celebration of -"Friendship Days" Wednesday evening with a huge parade through the business district. Although preceded by several days of damp weather, the skies cleared enough to make the parade enjoyable to about 6000 bystanders. The crowd saw 32 queen candidates riding by in new convertibles, con-vertibles, laughed at the clowns, and enjoyed the bands floats and the "Friendship Train," with its $2500 worth of free gifts' Sugar House postmen distributed certificates to the onlookers entitling them to free items of merchandise donated by Sutrar House stores. - The plaza was the center of festivities with a vaudeville show following the parade and then carnival rides for both tivities will contnue until 10 p.m. Saturday. Book Style Show Outstanding Thursday event was the "Book Style Show," held at the Sprague Library in Sugar House under the direction of Miss Aurelia Bennion. Children in costume portrayed their favorite story book characters. Climax of the celebration will be the annual Style Show to be held at the plaza at 8 p.m. Friday Fri-day evening. Thirty-two candidates candi-dates for the title of "Miss Sugar House of 1949" will model apparel ap-parel from Sugar House shops and be judged at the same time. Kidies and adults. Tickets to the rides are being distributed until un-til Saturday by Sugar House merchants with the purchase of merchandise. Gas Coupons Continuing attractions of the festival are: (1) the giving away of gasoline coupons with purchases pur-chases in Sugar House stores, starting with 1 gallon to be given with a $3 purchase and going up to 50 gallons for a $100 purchase or more; (2) carnival rides at the plaza; (3) free movies at the special D(S:RGW "movie train" located on Sugar House railroad trackage; and (4) plaza entertainment.
