Show HOLLYWOOD Mickey Roo-ney Roo-ney is trying to get his studio to star his 7-year-old son in "Huckleberry Finn." If you remember, re-member, Mickey played the Sawyer role many years ago. The Mick tels me the young one is a born "ham." After meeting the youngster, I agree. But I hear the studio is scouting scout-ing the country for an unknown. un-known. The latest report from Washington reaching Hollywood Holly-wood is that Gen. Lewis B. Hershey, head of selective service, advised the local draft boards to be lenient toward to-ward drafting Hollywood's eligibles. The general was quoted as saying there are sufficient other lads in the pool to make California's quota. quo-ta. Perhaps the war situation isn't as critical as it appears. The movie-teaming Hopalong Cassidy and Bing Crosby has been canceled indefinitely. Bing is still unable to work as a re- j suit of his recent operation, and I hear where Hoppy is seriously j ailing. More serious than we ' are led to believe. ; ! Watch for a story to break soon on a wellknown g;U star who is delinquent in her income in-come taxes of over $200,000. And I don't mean Bette Davis. HERE-say: Bob Fallon, the chap who blackened Alan Nixon's eye, is now going steady with Marie Wilson, temporarily at least. RKO gave a party for Leon Er-rol Er-rol in appreciation for his 21 years with the studio. And Wallace Wal-lace Ford celebrated his nineteenth nine-teenth year with Warner's. Clifton Jones, who doubled in real life for Field Marshall Montgomery during the last war, arirved in Hollywood last week to portray the field mar-shall mar-shall in "Desert Fox," a movie glorifying Germany's Rommell. Birthday greetings to Greta Garbo, 45 years young. Everyone Every-one in Hollywood is anxiously awaiting "Will Rogers' Love Letters," which will appear in the Woman's Home Companion soon. The John Hodiaks are expecting their new addition in June. And the MacDonald Careys Ca-reys expect their third child late this month. Glenn Ford, who was to don the uniform of a marine lieutenant this month, was given a temporary deferment defer-ment and will go to Paris for his next movie.
