Show QGranite Arts Group Slates Brilliant Violinist Feb. 16 Berl Senofsky, young, brilliant bril-liant American violinist who will appear on the Granite Arts Association series Feb. 16 at Granite High Auditorium, at 8:15 p.m. in place of Roland Gundry who was recently hospitalized, hospit-alized, began his mutical career ca-reer as a violinist at the extremely ex-tremely young age of three when he had his first lesson. Senofsky from this date on progressed pro-gressed so rapidly that within three years he had won a scholarship schol-arship with Louis Persinger, first teacher of Yehudi Menuhin. Later he continued his studies O'.n New York City with prominent prom-inent teachers and the Julliard School of Music. Army Career In 1941 the war interrupted his career though not completely complete-ly his musical activities. He took advantage of brief oppor tunities to practice and was called upon to present violin recitals in several ' army camps. Released from service in 1946 he returned to New York, won the coveted Naumburg Award, made his debut at Town Hall, and was guest soloist on the Telephone Hour. Soloist In 1948 he again appeared with the renowned Diiiitri Mit-ropoulous Mit-ropoulous when he was invited to be soloist with the Minneapolis Minne-apolis Symphony Orchestra. During 1948 he also presented his second New York recital at Carnegiei Hall and the critics acclaimed him for his performance perform-ance of the Bach Chaconne. Last January 27 Mr. Senofsky returned to Carnegie Hall and the critics again proclaimed him for an outstanding performance. |
