Lion Harold Drage opened his bright, white shiny new store Tuesday morning, complete with all new" fixtures, fluorescent lighting, and every other modern mod-ern improvement, and well-stocked well-stocked with hard-to-get merchandise, mer-chandise, too. The store is locat: ed at 4G5S Hollady Blvd. Lion Heber Peterson who has been conducting the Blue Cross membership for members of the club advises all Lions belonging to Blue Cross that payments for the next six months should' ,be made not later than Sept. 28. He will be at the business meeting Sept. 26, and at that time will give further information on additional ad-ditional benefits now obtainable to members of the organization. In a special news dispatch released re-leased from New York, announcement an-nouncement was made to the effect ef-fect that International President Presi-dent Clifford D. Pierce, of Memphis, Mem-phis, Tenn., and our own past international president, D. A. Skeen, left LaGuardia field Sept. 13 to fly to Paris to attend the peace conference. Lion D. A. as you will remember attended the United Nations conference in San Francisco as a special consultant. It will be very interesting in-teresting to hear a report on their trip when they reurn. It would be a fine thing if more organizations or-ganizations would take an active interest in the peace conference and I am sure that if they would it would make it possible for all peoples to work together, play together and live together, rather than to be thinking up ways and means of destroying each other. Those who attended the annual an-nual picnic last Thursday night at Fairmont Park went away happy and well satisfied. Lion Burgess "Bud" White who acted act-ed as temporary chairman of the entertainment committee deserves de-serves a big hand for a grand outing. Lion Bud, Lion Joe Mal-lory Mal-lory and Lion Jack Browning had plenty of fried chicken and pop on hand and a unique three-piece three-piece band to entertain us with music during our dinner and for the dancing and tomfoolery that took place after. A few of the boys took to the stage in the fore part of th evening and gave out with some real barber shop harmony under the direction of Lion Norm Berndt. How about a Holladay Lions quartet or' double quartet? President Arch Aldous announced an-nounced that the first business meeting of the 1946-47 iiscal year will be held Thursday, Sept. 26th at the Olympus library. libr-ary. In view of the fact that this is our first business meeting every member should plan to be in attendance as a complete outline out-line of the club's plans and projects proj-ects will be discussed. President Arch introduced the charter officers of the Ladies Auxiliary at the picnic and announced an-nounced that their September meeting would be held at Andy's Restaurant Sept. 24. Auxiliary President Mrs. Roy Hobbs extended ex-tended an invitation to all wives of Lions to be in attendance and if they plan to be charter members mem-bers to sign up not later than the October meeting.
