Show SOCIETY DOING THE TOWN . . . By Elaine A. Cannon Pig talk of the week is that everybody is dead tired. Pleasant Pleas-ant thought for such as we . . . nothing to do but sip cold refreshment, re-freshment, lounge in the shade and talk to the butterflies. Truth of t"e - ituation is that this week has been one grand round of goodbyes to Centennial visitors and general clean-up after all the parties, OMrs. Hugh Yancey has been the lady of the day many an afternoon during her visit here with the H. A. Sorensens . . . there was a luncheon at the home of Mrs. Briant Stringham and another given by Mrs. Munn Q. Cannon. The Aldon J. Andersons entertained at a buffet supper. Dr. Ed SIcKay has gone back to Philadelphia to continue his advanced medical work. His stay here was brief but full of activity aplenty. His wile, the talented Lottie Lund, is going to remain here for a bit longer and then she and the littb? daughter of the lamily will return to their home in Qennsylvania. Farewell tea party to say goodbye for awhile to Mrs. John "Webster. Shhien's many friends are going to miss her more than words can tell when she takes Marilyn, Stephanie, and Vickie and Valorie to the Golden GateCity to live. Eva Free's home on Gilmer Drive was the scene of all the festivity and tea Qi time talk. They are leaving this week. The Lorin L. Richards' home on south Oneida street was brightened up with gay chatter, brilliant summer blooms and bunches of people over Sunday. The occasion was an open house to fete Mr. and Mrs. Howard F. Cluny of Fall River, Mass., who were in town to attend the wedding of their son, William Howard, and Richards' daughter, Lucille. The two exchanged vows in the Salt Lake Temple Monday. More easrtern guests in town ane the Dr. Gerald E. SIc-Donnels SIc-Donnels of Sit. Holly, X'. J. House-guesting it at Sirs. SIcDonnel's mother's home on Ninth West (she is Sirs. Elizabeth Rueckert) the SleDonnels are special guests at the home of Sir. and Sirs. James R. SIcDonnel who live at 1409 East 13th South street, brother broth-er and sister-in-law of the doctor Mr. and Mrs. Vern Wright, 1871 Thirteenth East, are planning plan-ning fun affairs for the entertainment of their guests. Visiting with the Wrights are Mr. and Mrs. Fred W. Snyder of El Monte, Cal. Three small fry came along for the vacation, too. Luncheon in the Empire room for Kathryn Christensen Kercher ... it was a family affair with Elaine Christensen Tanner, Sirs. A. Engenc Christensen and Lowell on hand to help Kathryn spend an enjoyable last afternoon in Salt Lake. She left Tuesday with Christine and Kathy for their home in St. Louis, SIo., where Eddie will welcome them with open arms. On the docket for a cool get-away . . . Isabel and Robert Ward are entertaining a group of their friends at their Brighton home over the week-end . . . Dr. and Mrs. Elvon Jackson, the Jack Adamsons, Mr. and Mrs. Scott Clawson, Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Ward, Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Wirthlin, Dr. and Mrs. Joe Tanner, Mr. and Mrs. Boyd Erickson,- Mr. and Mrs. J. Alan Jensen, are on the guest list. There will be a weiner bust and corn-roast Saturday Satur-day night and a huge Sunday dinner planned to whet canyon appetites.. |
