Show I First Returns Are In on Salmon Plant n First returns are reported from Panguitch Lake, on tne Kokanee, salmon planted there in 1949, according to Utah Fish and Game Department This is good news to the soprtsmen, as this fish was planted as a supplement sup-plement to other game fish. The Kokanee is a native of northwestern United States waters. wa-ters. It is nicknamed the "Silver "Sil-ver trout," because of its appearance. ap-pearance. Average length of these fish being caught at Pan-guitch Pan-guitch Lake is from 10 to 12 inches. It has a living cycle of from five to seven years, and under good conditions will attain at-tain a growth of from three to five pounds. At the time of the planting of the first of this new species two years ago, fish were also planted in Schofield and Strawberry Straw-berry Reservoirs. This species is easily identified identi-fied by the length of the base of the anal fin. The department wishes to encourage fishermen to report any catches of this fish from Panguitch Lake and Schofield Scho-field and Strawberry Reservoirs. |
