Show Local Officer Saves Life of 20-Month Infant Another life was saved by a local policeman Monday when officer T. A. Diamond raced to the bedside of Jackie Barber, 20-months-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Barber, 375 E. 27th South, and administered first aid-resus-citator treatment. Parents credited cred-ited the officer with saving the infant's life, after the child had lapsed into unconsciousness and had ceased breathing. The child had been ill all day Sunday, the parents noted. Early Monday morning, after spending an all-night vigil a Jackie's bed side the parents noted that the child had lost consciousness Seconds later, he ceased breathing breath-ing entirely. Mrs. Barber telephoned the family doctor. She also called for assistance from the Salt Lake police. Almost within seconds, Mr. Barber said, Patrolman T. A Diamond, driver of the Sugar House ambulance, was on the scene with a resuscitator. He went to work immediately. After Aft-er a few anxious moments the child started to respond. Forty-five Forty-five minutes later a doctor at the scene announced the baby would be all right and that Patrolman Pa-trolman Diamond could stop his resuscitator work. |
