Douglas MacArthur from the Philippine theater of war, Lieut. Gen. Jonathan M. Wainwright was left in charge of troops -in besieged Bataan. He had formerly commanded the First U. S. cavalry. His old unit led in the recapture of Manila. It is believed that General Wainwright is a prisoner in Japan or Formosa. Photo was taken while General Wainwright was in the cavalry. |
