For people who are interested in the life of Abraham Lincoln, the book "The Man Who Killed Lincoln" will prove to be very interesting I'm sure. Philip Van, Doren Stern wrote this biography biog-raphy of John Wilkes Booth and his part in the assination, and in addition tells of the oth-. oth-. ers who were included among the conspirators. In the front of the book is a map showing Booth's route of escape and also a diagram of the theater. The story of the assination need no longer remain a mystery it lias always been. The book was published by the Literary Guild. Robert Trumbull is a newspaper news-paper man- who wrote "The Raft," an account of the three navy fliers who fought the sea for 34 days in a rubber raft without food or equipment. When they finally landed on shore, not knowing what land it was, they made an effort to march in military style because if Japs were on the land they wouldn't see an American sail- Oor crawl. The author of the book stayed with these men during their long convalescence "Pastoral" by Nevil Shute (Norway, his real name), tells the story of an air base in England Eng-land during the War II. Mr. Shute defines a pastoral as a i poem which describes the scenery scen-ery and lif.? of the country. The book was not written as poetry but it tells of the life of the men and women stationed in the country of how the fishing fish-ing and hiking saved the sanity of the fliers established there.!
