Show Building Projects Will Add Many Stores, Offices in 8JHL Sam J. Nicholes, prominent Sugar House attorney and secretary secre-tary of Sugar House Rotary, is taking office space there, and it is understood a dentist and some other professional men are arranging ar-ranging to occupy the remaining remain-ing space. This project is being handled for the owner, R. V. Madsen Sr., by Ed King and John Edling, manager of the Granite Mart. Vern Millard is the contractor and the total cost is estimated at beween $15,000 and $20,000. A comprehensive building program pro-gram which will cost in the neighborhood of 8150,000 and will eventually add nearly a dozen completely modern business busi-ness houses to the very center of the Sugar House area, in addition ad-dition to a considerable number of offices, will be started within the next few weeks. Site of the new buildings is the property to the north and to the east of the Sterling Furniture Furni-ture Co.. on the northeast corner corn-er of the main intersection. Richard Rich-ard W. Madsen Jr., president of Sterling and owner of the property, prop-erty, said this week the first units of construction will go forward soon on 11th E. north of the main Sterling building, and that other phases of the program will develop as building materials and the labor supply permit Seven units will extend north of the Sterling alley, including the present Sugar House Glass and Granite Welding buildings which will be extended considerably consider-ably to the rear. Then behind this solid row of business buildings build-ings there will be a paved parking park-ing lot. a double row of ga rages, and a two-story furniture furni-ture warehouse. After this part of the project is completed, it if-planned if-planned to build four or more additional business houses aiong the north side of 21st S. east of the corner building on the sites now occupied by Chubby Hamburgers, the Southeast Repair Re-pair shop, Foto Arts Studio and the Bulletin. ' 1 It is planned to make this part of the development a two-story building with offices for busi ness and professional tenants on the second floor. Mr. Madsen said the plan will be developed gradually and the buildings built in units so that present tenants, if they desire, can move into the new accom-' accom-' modatlons as they are completed com-pleted with a minimum of disruption dis-ruption to their businesses. This development will follow shortly the completion of the extensive remodeling of the Granite Mart Building located just west: of 11th E. on the south side of 21st S. This project proj-ect -has provided completely modern office space for some nine tenants on the second floor, and though the work is not yet completed, several of the new suites are already occupied. In addition to Dr. Tom Robinson Rob-inson who has ted his offices in this location for some time, Dr. S. Wayne Smith has located there for general medical practice ,the legal firm of Hess Summer-hays Summer-hays & Boud is moving in this week and Reimann & Borg, auditors au-ditors and accountants, have already al-ready opened their offices. |
