Show It Sounds Strange, But Starlet Says G. B. Shaw Helped Her Learn to Croon The best way to learn something some-thing you know nothing about is to obligate yourself to teach the subject to others. So says Jacqueline de Wit, charming Universal contract player who admits she borrowed the idea -from George Bernard Shaw. "I once read ian article by G.B.S.," says Jacquie, "in which "he stated that he had become one of the world's best-informed men "by lecturing. "He would sign up to deltv- er a lecture on a subject he wanted to learn. Then he would be compelled to find out everything every-thing he could about it so he could deliver his lecture. Over a period of years, he made quite a lot of money and gathered quite a lot of information by this method." Jacquie tried the plan out during student days in London. Lon-don. Eager to learn something about crooning, she undertook to teach an English girl to croon. And she proved a good enough teacher because her pupil pu-pil got the job for which she was studying. In her latest Universal film, "THAT NIGHT WITH YOU," Jacquie utilizes some of the things she learned about singing. sing-ing. She sings a duet with Su-sana Su-sana Foster that is one of the film's high spots. Franchot Tone, David Bruce and Louise Allbritton are also prominent in the cast of the musical. mu-sical. It was directed by William A. Seiter and produced by its writers, Michael Fessier and Ernest Pagano. |
