WALLACE MARTIN, who promises a fine and varied program. pro-gram. The concert will consist of several fine band numbers and some specially arranged music. C'mon out and enjoy yourself. Last Monday night one of the finest P-TA programs that has ever been presented at our school was given under the direction di-rection of MRS. MALCOLM PIKE, the association's president. presi-dent. The posting of the colors by five of Irving's students sarted the program off. A prayer was then given by one of our eighth grade teachers, MR. CLIFTON L. COOK. A very cute little seven-year-old girl by the name of DOROTHY DUNCAN, gave an excepional-ly excepional-ly charming recital of a Christmas Christ-mas story. "Early Utah," a play produced by pupils, of the eighth grade then began. The play consisted of three scenes under the direction direc-tion of the three community problems teachers. Scene I, presented by the students of JUISS BO WEN'S classes was entitled "The Coming of the First White Men." MISS LAW'S classes presented the second scene entitled "The Scouts and Trappers." The last scene presented pre-sented by the students of MRS. MERRILL called "The Pioneers After 1817," and showed what it would be like if the pioneers had had radio at the end of the first emigrations to Utah. Throughout the program the orchestra provided the audience with some very beautiful Christmas Christ-mas music. Directed by Mr. Martin, tliev did their usual fine job. DEE VI JORGEXSEN acted act-ed as narrator for the program and KAREN JACOBS did a fine part as pianist. At the conclusion of the play DR. M. LYNN BENN ION, superintendent su-perintendent of schools gave a very nice talk on "The Spiritual Values of Christmas Celebration in the Schools." This concluded the meeting. I I Irving was honored to have as its guest last Friday, Mr. Fielding Field-ing K. Smith, famed master of ceremonies, columnist and speaker. Mr. Smith spoke on "Integrity" and in between jokes told "of some very interesting things that he noticed while in the army. The only bad thing about the assembly in the opinion opin-ion of the students is that it was not four or five times longer. long-er. Our president, RONALD WELSCH presided over the assembly as-sembly in his usual excellent manner. George Garwood. |
