Show Marine First Lieutenant Warren i R. Young, 22, of Salt Lake City, I and fellow Leatherneck fighter pilot are credited with sinking a large Jap cargo ship just off the coast of Leyte. Another Jap ship was left listing and smoking in the water. The pilots are members of "Joe's Joker" squadron, named j after its former leader, Marina, I Ace Joe Fess. The squadron is attached to the First Marine All Wing. Since their irrivah the Leather-neck Leather-neck airmen already have des-troyed des-troyed 34 Jap planes, sunk nine ships, and blown up a large supply sup-ply dump. Lieutenant Young, is a grad-uate grad-uate of the West High school, nnd attended the University of Utah for three years. He was commissioned commis-sioned in May 1943. m |
