Show Gov. R. Gates To Speak at GOP Dinner : Salt Lake City (Special) .A preview of National political issues is-sues in the 1948 elections and the opening of a drive to create a I treasury balance capable of waging wag-ing an all out political campaign next year will mark the Oct. 9th dinner of Utah Republicans in Salt Lake City. Indiana Governor to Speak , Gov. Ralph F. Gates of Indiana, Indi-ana, a political vice presidential candidate of the GOP ticket next year, will be the principal speakr er at the state dinner to be held in the LaFayette and Junior rooms of the Hotel Utah at 7:15 p. m. Other national party leaders who may be on hand to discuss political issues include Rep. Joe Martin (R-Mass.). and speaker of the U. S. House of Representatives, Represent-atives, and Carroll Reece, chairman chair-man GOP National committee, Marvin J. Bertoch and Rex J. Hanson, co-chairmen of the dinner, din-ner, reported here today. In addition, Utah's GOP congressional con-gressional representatives, Sen. i it , c ' 1 xA Ralph E. Gates Arthur V. Watkins and Rep. William Ar Dawson, are expected expect-ed to speak. $25.00 Per Plate Noting the $25.00 per plate charge for the dinner, Mr. Bertoch Ber-toch and Mr. Hanson declared that the party is "tired of feeding feed-ing peanuts to the elephant" and that GOP leaders intend to enter en-ter the '48 campaign with the party financially solvent and with sufficient funds to finance a vigorous campaign in behalf of its principles. Supported by the Republican State Committee under Vernon Romney, chairman, the dinner is sponsored by the Salt Lake County GOP committee and its chairman, J. A. Ottenheimer. |
