Show Merit System Examinations to he Held All persons wishing to take Merit System examinations for positions in the State Department of Health must file applications with LeRay S. Howell, Merit System Sys-tem Supervisor, 206 "New-house Building. Salt Lake City, Utah not later than April 15, 1943. Applications received later than that date cannot be considered j for the first series of examina tions which are schedued to be '.conducted some time in May. Interested In-terested persons who are residencs j of the United States may obtain .announcements of the examina-' tions from Mr. Howell. These an- nouncements give specific information infor-mation with regards to each position. posi-tion. I The examinations for most of i these positions will consist of rat-I rat-I ings of education and experience to determine whether the appli-can appli-can meet the minimum requirements require-ments of a real examination to be conducted by specialists in the respective public health fields. All examinations will be conducted in Salt Lake City, Utah, only. Ad-plicants Ad-plicants will be notified individually individ-ually of the exact time and place of examinations. I The purpose of the examinations is to give the present employees of the State Department of Health an opportunity to qualify for per-imanent per-imanent employment and to estao-lish estao-lish a list of eligibles from which i appointments can be made as the I needs of the service require. In I some cases openings already exist, ex-ist, it was pointed out. Persons appointed under the Merit System are not subject to being released at the end of the war emergency or because of political poli-tical changes in the Government, Mr. Howell said, because positions posi-tions are obtained and held on a basic of merit.
