Chase Moulton of 1964 S. 9th E.. a contestant for the' princess crown, and Donna Jane Dowden, 24. daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. F. DoVden, 1454 Browning Avp., a candidate for queen. Both, of course, are descendants of early day arrivals in the valley. The judging of the princess entries is scheduled for the Lafayette La-fayette ball room, Hotel Utah, Friday at 3 p.m., and entries should be on hand at 2:30. The queen selection will start at 8:30 and entries should be there an hour early. All contestants will appear first in afternoon or street dresses, and then in , evening eve-ning attire. This event is the opening highlight in the annual celebra-'tion celebra-'tion here, and other events and their -dates follow: Coronation, July 16 at state capitol, to be followed in the evening by the royal ball at the j Coconut Grove. Children's costume cos-tume contest July 17 in front of The Deseret News on Main St. This event will take place at noon. I The rodeo will open July 17 land continue through July 22. The Sugar House pioneer parade pa-rade and program is set for July 22. On Monday, July 21, church services honoring the pioneers will be held throughout the state, and the Richard Bonelli concert will be held in the evening eve-ning in the Tabernacle. Admission Ad-mission will be by ticket only, but tickets will be given free with purchase of rodeo tickets. The big pioneer pageant at the U. stadium is set for the evenings eve-nings of July 23 and 21, and the big parade through the city, attracting at-tracting entries from throughout through-out the state, will be held at the 24th, followed by a program and awarding of parade prizes at Liberty park. Sunrise services by Ensign and Emigration wards are scheduled sched-uled for the 24th, and the Sugar House Sons of Pioneers trek to the last pioneer campsite on the way to the valley is scheduled for July 20 at Big Mountain. |
