Show ' -iajX. -' 1 ' NEGEV CONCERT . . . The cultural life of the new slate of Israel took another step forward when the Israel Is-rael philharmonic orchestra played for the first time in the Biblical town of Beersheba, which the Israeli troops captured from the Egyptians some weeks ago in Negev operations. Star of the show was Leonard Bernstein of New York, a famed composer, pianist and conductor, who Is shown here at the piano he played for troops and Negev settlers, many of whom found "box seats" on the battered ramparts of the ancient city. |
