Show News From Kearns KEARNS, UTAH The-'Kearns Mother", Mrs. Callie Herrington ! of Palestine, Texas, arrived Fri-day. Fri-day. As she stepped off the train in Salt Lake City she was greeted greet-ed by her son Vergil, who is stationed stat-ioned at this army air force basic training center, and a full military escort. Private Herrington, whose ballot bal-lot in a recent contest made his mother the 'Kearns Mother" for an all-expense tour to this post, was accompanied to the station by a detachment from the M. P. guard squadron of which he is a member. Mrs. Herrington reviewed the regular Saturday morning parade with the commanding officer, Colonel Converse R. Lewi, after which she was conducted on a tour of the post in a staff car. At noon Saturday, Mayor Ab Jenkins officially welcomed Mrs. Harrington and her son to Salt Lake City. A luncheon was hekT in their honor at the Lion House after which they visited the Mormon Mor-mon Tabernacle and the Temple grounds. After visiting the points of interest in-terest in Salt Lake City area, cho "Kearns Mother" and her son returned to the Post's Service' Club, where she is residing dur-i ing her visit. The men's building will house 57. Two recreational day rooms are available for each of the groups. In the women's dormitories dorm-itories private rooms rent for $15 a month, and when two share a room the rental is $10 each. The The rental for each man being $8.00 a month. PFC Stan Greenspan and Pvt. Costello, featured performance in the Bandwagon show of this basic training center, appeared as guest stars on the Major Bowes radion program last Thursday evening ev-ening Before entering the army, 1st class Private Greenspan toured tour-ed the country with a Major Bowes Bow-es unit as master of ceremonies. Keep 'Em Flying Richardd Travis of movie fame, arrived at this air corp basic training Renter last week. Travis is probably oest remembered for his part as the jerk-reporter with Eette Davis and Monte Wooley in the picture, "The Man Who Came To Dinner." Travis, who in army life is Pvt.
