Show WITH THE MARINES Marine Corporal Ralph Charles Ford, son of Mrs. Vivian C. Ford of 1134 Indiana avenue, recently was promoted to his present rank at North Island. San Diego. California, Cali-fornia, where he is on duty with an ordnance section of a Marine Corpa aviation unit. Corporal Ford attended Edison Junior High school and West High school. Before he entered the Marine Mar-ine Corps he was a mechanic for a local automobile agency. Recently promoted Afton L. Mair of Salt, Lake City is a Private Pri-vate First Class in the Marine Corps Women's Reserves. Station ed at the Marine Corps Air Station, Stat-ion, Mojava, California, she is a clerk in the post exchange there. Private First Class Mair's parents par-ents are Mr. and Mrs. Ephraim Mair of 20 Russett avenue. She is a graduate of Granite High 'school and was formerly employed employ-ed by the Salt Lake Terminal. She enlisted a year ago, the I local woman completed her basic training at Hunter College, New York City, former training for all women Marines. Two Salt Lake City men, Privates Pri-vates Frank D. Brooks and Robert Rob-ert B. Salisbury, who are enrolled enroll-ed in the Marine Corps pre-offic-lers training program, recently were transfered from North Texas Agricultural College, Arlington, Texas, to Arkansas A. & M. College, Col-lege, Monticello, Arkansas, for additional training, i Private Brooks formerly resided resid-ed at 1903 East Ninth South. A Salt Lake City Leatherneck, .Corporal James G. Shaw, recently was promoted from Private First Class at the Marine Corps Air i Station, Mojava, California. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Shaw, 47 Guest avenue. He is now radio operator in headquarters head-quarters squadron. |
