Show w ' ' ..1.: BOWLING H. Gillespie of the Wednesday high ''Husband and Wife League at the Southeast Bowling Courts bowled a neat 617 series to win the week's prize and make a new record high. Mr. Gillespie is the first person in either league to win two prizes. The Randall-Rankin team made a new high series record with 1952 pins, winning 4 points to retain re-tain top place in the league. Helen Bolton's absence was the first in the entire league for the season. In the Monday league there was three teams absence, these teams having bowled their game last week so the ladies could attend the W. I. B. C. The high scores made by those teams were not topped this week. Mrs.Papworth had an excellent series, bowling 105 pins over her average in 3 games to win the prize for the week. The Papworth- Janney and Pitt-Phillips teams tied on total pins, played an extra frame, tied again, and finally the Papworth-Janney Papworth-Janney team emerged victors with a three pin margin. Interest in open play is centered cen-tered on the bowling pin tie clasp offered for high score each week at the Southeast. Tie clasps have been won so far by Roy Garton. Malcolm Sterling, and Red Davie. The week ends at midnight every Saturday. The weather has been ideal for bowling, but the Southeast can guarantee ideal bowling weather at their alleys even when the summer heat arrives, with the new air-cooled conditioning system sys-tem now in operation in their buildig. |
