Every man subject to registration registra-tion who is an inmate of an asylum, asyl-um, jail , penitentiary, reformatory, reforma-tory, or other similar institution on Februry 16 is required to register reg-ister on the day he leaves the institution. 0 SELECTIVE SERVICE REGISTRATION DATE OF FEBRUARY 16 Emphasizing that the Selective Service Registration on February 16 will complete the registration of America's potential military manpower, Major H. A. Rich, State Director of Selective Service, Ser-vice, to day pointed out that it affects every male resident in Utah between the ages of 20 and 45 years, with a few exceptions made by Congress. The requirement, he explained is that all male persons not previously pre-viously registered, who attained their twentieth birthday . on or before February 16,. 1942. must register as of their home address between 7 a. m. and 9 p. m. on February 16. In other words, all unregistered men who were born between February 17, 1897, and December 31, 1921 must register. Men between 21 and 36 years of age who registered in 1940 and 1941 are not required to register again, the Director stated. While anyone who is unavoidably unavoida-bly away from his home on February Feb-ruary 16 may register at the registration reg-istration place moats convenient on that day, Director Rich said, he urged all Utah registrants to make every effort to register with their own local boards to avoid possible confusion in the future. Any person who must register while away from his home address ad-dress as that his registration card may be forwarded promptly to his local board and to ensure that he will be included in its potential poten-tial manpower to fill calls for quotas. In certain industrial centers where there are factories and shops employing substantial numbers of workman, the Director also announced, an-nounced, local boards have been authorized to arrange for the registration reg-istration of these workers mihin the establishments. Employers and Employee's organizations are cooperating, he said, to facilitate the registration of workman with the least possible inerference with production. Special registrars also will be provided to register men who cannot can-not appear at a disignated registration regis-tration place because of illness |
