Show Bowling News Madeline Droubay is winner of the ladies Round Robin tournament tourna-ment with Amy McCarty champion cham-pion at scratch and a close second in handicap The tournament was a very successful one, with many entries, excellent scores, and good showing among the new bowlers. Now the lady bowlers are looking forward to the state tournament which begins at the Ritz, March 22, and a number of entries have been made from the Southeast leagues. Last week in the Forest league, the last place Oak team took the measure of the leading Pine team to win 3 points and chalk up 2046 for high score. They had only on-ly three on their team but Lena Draney with a high game of 211 was sparking the three. Maple rolled 712 for high team game, and Nancy Neslen of the Poplar team had 492 for high individual series. The Southside league went into a slup last Tuesday when Ed Gramelspacher was the only man in the league to roll over H00 He had 620 for series and a 235 high game to help Norberg's take 4 points. Barnett and Weise also j took 4, with 944 for a high game while Central Lumber took high series with 2736. Caldwell's C-Lect Market got back into stride in last week's Southeast league when Bill Swain hit the game for a 663 series, and a 244 game, and the team rolled 2706 to win 4 points. Hclsum Bakers retained their 1 point lead of the league by taking high game with 963 and a 4 point win over Phil and Joe's. Birrell Bottling Bot-tling is tied with Caldwell's in second place. In the Lumbermen's league last week, K's Inn with a 260 high series took 3 points from the top spot Granite Mill. M and M Yard had 950 for high game, including R. Keddington's single 246. Ab Ward's 638 individual series for Pigeon Club was the season's only series over 600. Utah Drugless Health Clinic and Bowers Home Furnishings are tied in first place in the Lad ies Cardinals league, but the Southeast Courts with a revamp-team revamp-team is again threatening the leaders. They had 2232 high series, ser-ies, 805 high game, and Helen Wise was high individual with a 545 series. Stella Morley of Wendell's Wen-dell's Market rolled 199 for high single game. Utah Clinic wag the only team winning 4 points last week. Sugar Bowl had high series and game again this week in the Sugar Su-gar House Major league with 2733 and 1016. Ed Fortress rolled a 630 high individual series, and Jack Matson's 239 was high single sin-gle game. The league will bowl double session for the next four weeks in order to complete a 35 week schedule in less time. |
