Show Utah Mimes Seek to Meet K Rapidly Changing Conditions Researcher using mircoscope to solve intricate mine problem. Ko modern concern can stand still. Conditions change rapidly in this' fast moving age, and a company com-pany to hold its position cannot rely entirely upon manufacturing methods and products which have been successful in the past. The mining and smelting industry indus-try must meet these changing conditions, con-ditions, and the jobs of the workers work-ers are dependent apbn the manner in wiich they are met. When the IpressurB of war has ended, the metal industry must plan so-far so-far as they can to protect future employment. For many years the smelting Industry In-dustry has maintained a competent staff of research workers, who are continually studying new methods of ore treatment and new uses for the various metals.' This research has resulted in many favorable developments de-velopments for the mining industry. indus-try. Right now a great deal of consideration is being given by the research departments of the- various vari-ous smelters operating in Salt Lake Valley, so that the metal mining industry will be prepared for the fundamental changes in industry which are certain to come after the war. A proposed plan that is meeting with favor is government stockpiling stockpil-ing of metals after the war. This plan would not only insure stable employment and conditions throughout through-out the industry, but would also solidify the position of the government govern-ment of the United States in world affairs. |
