Show CONTEST FOR ENLISTMENT OF "WAVES" ANNOUNCE RTTT.F.S FOR ENLISTMENT CONTEST I P.ules governing the contest between be-tween Utah posts and units in securing se-curing WAVE enlistments were announced This week. Object of the contest is to send to the nearest Navy recruiting 1 station in Utah or the office of naval procurement at Salt Lake City the largest possible number of eligible women applicants whose application results in en- jiistments in the WAVES. Each unit and supporting post of the American Legion throughout through-out the state shall constitute a team in thee ompetition, according accord-ing to Captain Arnold, and each contest shall extend ove a calendar calen-dar month. The first shall extend from February 1 to February 29. The winner of eacb contest should be the team credited with the greatest number of enlistment enlist-ment in proportion to its total membership as reported Decem-31, Decem-31, 1943. Credit for enlistment of ' a WAVE shall be given for the month in which the enljstee is sworn in. I A parchment citation of merit shall be awarded the post assist-I assist-I ing the corresponding unit, and J another citation if merit shall be awarded the unit winning the contest for the preceding month. ,Th'is award shall become the permanent per-manent possession of the post and of the unit. The winner of a 'parchment citation of merit shall I be awarded a gold star for atach-jment atach-jment to the original citation fO each monthly contest won there after, A progressive award, the Navy WAVES "E" flag shall be held by the winner of each monthly contest luring the month follow ing the month of the contest. The flag shall at the end of the 1944 contest become the permanent possession of the post and unit which at the end of the competition competi-tion has been credited with the greatest number of enlistments in proportion to their membership. "The splendid attitude of Utah post and unit officials in assisting assist-ing the Navy with the WAVES program is deeply appreciated," Captain Arnold said. |
