Show APPEALS FOR NINETY WAR DOGS An appeal for ninety War Dogs by May 31 was issued this wwek by the Marine Corps. The fighting dogs have already proved their worth on Guadalcanal, Guadalca-nal, on Bougainville and many be-hind-the front shore stations, and more are urgently needed for' future fighting in the Pacific. They are trained primarily for scout, messenger and sentry duties, dut-ies, and sometimes also are used to guide first aid units to Marines Mar-ines wounded and to carry amun-ition. amun-ition. The First Dog Platoon, comprising com-prising veterans of the Bougainville Bougain-ville and Guadalcanal campaigns, saved many Marine lives, won commendations from the Marine commanders and suffered its share of the casualties, Dogs needed must be male Dob-erman-Pinschers, or German shep ards in limited numbers. They must be about 27 inches tall and weigh around 70 pounds. They should be from two to four years of age, of clean blood lines, alert, healthy, agressive but not vicious.
