Show LIBRARY BOOK CORNER NOTES SPRAGUE BRANCH The best sellers for the week as reported by the New York Herald Tribune are Eric Knight's THIS ABOVE ALL, James Hilton's Hil-ton's RANDOM HARVEST, both of which are in circulation at the Library. These books are both fiction. In nonfiction, the best sellers sel-lers are Alice Duer Miller's THE WHITE CLIFFS, and Winston's Churchill's BLOOD, SWEAT AND TEARS which are not yet in the Library. A noticeable thing is that these books have held their places in the top of thelists for some time. We are grateful' to Mr. Jay Larson and to Mr. F. D. Ulmer for gifts of books which add greatly to our source of information informa-tion and research. New books that heve recently been added to our collection are JUNIOR MISS by Benson, a story cleverly written, of Naw York life and which has bee running run-ning in the New Yorker. There is a new book by Christopher Wren, author of those fascinating stories stor-ies of the French Legion, B"!u Gesta and Beau Sabreur the new 0 book called TWO FEET FROM "T-' HEAVEN. Edison Marshall who has written so many Oriental adventure ad-venture stories has deserted his regular style and has an historical histori-cal romance BENJAMEN BLAKE Shane's LADY IN LILAC won the' prize of SI. 000 as the Red Badge Mysteria of 194". A new love storv is Marguerite Marshall's Marsh-all's NURSE INTO WO WIN. Zane Grey's new book TWIN SOMBEROS has just recently been added to our collection and is proving as popular as his books usually are. And finally we have that old romance that caused so many heart thrills several years ago. THE SHEIK by Hull. There are new books in the field of adventure, adven-ture, travel politics and bird guides. |
