Show ified utilization of tank car- by the industry to meet the East Coast situation, there is still opportunity op-portunity for speeding up their use. The principal bottle-neck in petroleum tank cars today is, the habit of taking to much time in unloading and the failure to return re-turn cars promptly, it was declared declar-ed in reviewing the information which hase been received from tank car owners and operators. If tank cars are to make their full contribution to national defense, de-fense, the efficiency of their operation op-eration must be increased. The reservoir of surplus tank cars is diminishing and cannot be relied re-lied upon to meet the anticipated needs for rail transportation, a Transportation 0f Oil Being Rushed The tanker fleet engaged in the shiping and carrying crude oil petroleum products from the Gulf to the East Coast is preparing to take quick action on the liberalized liber-alized sections of the law governing govern-ing the maximum loads that hey can carry, Harold L. Ickes, Pe-trolum Pe-trolum Coordinator, said this week. Over the week end 22 companies compan-ies engaged in the Gulf to East Coast trade and it was suggested that they take immediate steps toward earring increased loads, as permitted by the load line bill which received Presidential approval ap-proval last week. In addition, the Deputy Coordinator air mailed to each company a copy of trie regulations reg-ulations implementing the new act which was issued by the depnrt-iment depnrt-iment of Commerce.
