Show 3rd Presbyterian Church War Tasks Coming Up, Plan To Aid Japanese Families In the war tasks coming with the new year, the church is finding find-ing its indispensable part, recent reports tell us that the Church Federation of Los Angeles and the Fellowship of Reconciliation made plans to aid distressed Japanese Ja-panese persons, who number 40, 000 in that area. The plans include in-clude the opening of homes to evicted Japanese families, the loaning of cash and the providing of employment. Fifty leaders of three major churchwowen's groups have pledg ed opposition to hatred, ministry to the sufferers in war, friendship and understanding to defense workers and men in service, and the building of a democrasy at home that would recognize the worth of the individual and secure justice for all people. Returned missionaries from the Phillipines are telling us anew of a united Protestant Church which years ago formed the Evangelical Church of the Phillipines and has since made a tremendous impact upon the religious life of the Islands. Home news of vast interest to every Christian is the report that all feminine activities of Protestant Protes-tant churches of the United States Stat-es were merged when 50 leaders of three major groups (mentioned above) adopted a constitution to form a new organization embras-ing embras-ing 10,000,000 women in 70 denominations. deno-minations. To lose their idenity in the new group will be council of Women for Home Missions, the National Council of Church Women Wo-men and the Federation of Women's Wo-men's Board for foreign Missions. . 1 nationwide series of evangelistic evange-listic preaching missions will be conducted in 50 American cities durng January and February of 1942 by the department of evangelism evan-gelism of the Federal Council of Churches of Christ in America. This "National Christian Mission" Mis-sion" will enlist the services of 2500 ministers and enlist among the speakers such men " as Dr. Stanley Jones, Dr. Daniel Poling, Dr. Allen Knight Chalmers and Dr. Albert E. Day. There will also al-so be a series of meetings in army camps for the men in service. The Third Church is "Carrying on" with regular services for young and old, scouts for boys and girls, organizations for adults and a welcome to all. |
