The actual amount of interest paid by the government during the year 1943 amounted to $1,800,000,000. This means . that in a single year, the interest charge which the United States government must meet has increased by $1,000,000, 000 and the end is not yet in sight. BAD GUESSING These are hard ditys for the forecasters. Their predictions predic-tions have misfired on practically everything from the size of the Russian Army to the demand for diapers. SOME FACTS Many industries in the course of this war have overcome operating and production handicaps that would normally have been called insurmountable |
