Show Dean McMurrin Writes Monograph "The Philosophical Foundations Founda-tions of Mormon Theology" is ( the title of the latest publication of the University of Utah Press. The 32 -page monograph is the work of Dr. Sterling M. McMurrin, professor of philosophy and dean of the College of Letters and Science at the U. According to the Press, this publication is the first in a series of short monographs by Dean McMurrin Mc-Murrin oh the subject o the Mormon Mor-mon religion.' It sells for $1.00 a copy. The monograph begins by explaining ex-plaining that the basic philosophy of any group is its set of fundamental fun-damental concepts about the nature of reality and goes on to explore Mormonisms answers to several philosophical questions concerning reality. Two of its sections treat the quantitative and qualitative structure struc-ture of reality as set forth by Mormonism. Others give Mormon views on whether reality is changing or unchanging, whether anything in the universe is stable, whether universal uni-versal such as justice, truth and mercy have reality in themselves and whether thing? exist in and of themselves. " Dr. McMurrin also shows how these philosophical concepts lead to Mormonism's affirmative estimate esti-mate of human character and accomplishment, its attention to everyday life and its enthusiasm for natural science. |
