Show Utah State Fair Plans for "the 1959 Utah State Fair Music Contest are now complete. com-plete. Dates for the contest are September 15 and 16 and will be held at the Fairgrounds.The contest is held in live categories and equal prizes are offered in all categories. cat-egories. The categories are: Voice, Piano, Wind Instruments, String Instrument, and Composition. Compos-ition. In each of these categories there are two divisions except in the category of composition. The medium classification includes in-cludes all ages up to 17 years of age. The advanced classification includes contestants from 16 years of age to 23 years of age. There is no age limit placed on contestants con-testants in composition but it is understood that established professionals pro-fessionals will not compete. The awards are as follows: In the medium classification there is an award of $15.00 for first prize and $10.00 for second prize offered by the Fair Board. In the advanced classification the Fair offers $25.00 for first and $20.00 for second place. These awards apply to each of the four performing categories. The winners win-ners in composition receive the same awards as the winners in the advanced classification of performers. In addition the University of Utah, Brigham Young University Univer-sity and Utah State University each offer a full tuition scholarship scholar-ship to each first place winner in the advanced classification and in the composition contest. Each of these will also receive a season ticket to the Utah Symphony Sym-phony Orchestra Concerts through the courtesy of the Utah Symphony Orchestra. A special award of $25.00 offered by Salt Lake Federated Fed-erated Musicians will go to one of the advanced category winners and an award of $50.00 to an outstanding musician is made by the Junior League of Salt Lake.
