Show Something Is Wrong On July 3d, the day before we celebrated our Independence, the local newspaper headline and stories told of the U. S. Bureau of Public Roads rejecting all belt route proposals because the citizens cit-izens of the South East Area objected to the location of that quadrant, the same paper carried a story of a U. S. Civil Service Commissioner Commis-sioner recommending that three Utah State Read Employees be removed from office for alleged improper political activities. THIS IS INDEPENDENCE? When a large representative group of citizens of a state object ob-ject to having their neighborhoods marred by the slashing of a road through it; their property value decreased, and the beauty and quietness of the area jeopardized and then told by the Federal Government to either accept it or else-something is wrong. When the activities of State employees are examined by a Federal Fed-eral Employee-something is wrong. When this power to intervene by the Federal Bovernment in State affairs is created by the threat to withhold OUR tax money-something money-something is wroeg When our Tax money is returned to us it has been so massacred and depleted that a citizen can barely recognize it. When it s used to control our State and our neighborhood -THEN SOMETHING IS WRONG...T. N. |
