Congratulations, Petroleum Wives, for an out-standing out-standing community project. The ladies of the United Lutheran Church will serve pot luck supper at the East Millcreek Gymnasium, Sunday, February 22 at 5:p.m. under the direction of Mrs Richard Cole. Church services will follow fol-low at 7:30 p.m. a terrific new spring outfit without even glancing at price tags. This colurrn welcomes news of club projects and activities. Salt Lake Beeliners monthly mon-thly luncheon will be served in the Garden Room of the Hotel Temple Square, Saturday, Sat-urday, March 7 at 12:45 p.m. Discussion of the New York Donneley contests will be the order of the day. Speaking of spring tonic, the sparkling C'st la Vie revue put on by the Petroleum Wives last Friday at the Hillside Hill-side Junior High School to benefit the Fairmont Training The word around town this week seems to be that spring can't come too soon for the mothers of youngsters, who have spent the last weary months tracing down elusive mittens and wrestling small fry into bulky snowsuits and reluctant galoshes. Cheer up girls, remember, all you'll have to cope with next month is MUD. The activities scheduled by organizations and clubs about town offer a sure-fire cure for the late winter doldrums. Yalecrest chapter of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers will hold their monthly meeting meet-ing at the Lion . House, Wednesday, Wed-nesday, February 18, at 1 : p.m.. Feature of the luncheon will be readings from the diary of Mary Weston Maughn, early Ipipneer, by Rhoda DeLong and Tla Russon. In charge of arrangements are Ortencaa Monson, Ruby Silver and Catherine Merrill. Silver Spurs recently installed in-stalled new officers at a dinner at the Meadowbrook Cafe. Directing this years activities will be Nada Mc-Henry Mc-Henry - president, Marjorie Tripp - vice president, Dorothy Rakes - secretary- and treasurer, treas-urer, Anona Fox - recreation director and June Nebeker board president. Talked with Mrs. Verna Carlson, recent winner of a fifteen thousand dollar award in a national contest. Mrs. Carlson says that after Uncle Sam exacted his toll from her winnings the rest was invested in stocks and bonds. She did disclose, however, that she is going to indulge herself in |
