Representatives from 50 ' former Racliffe classes and more than 35 alumnae clubs and councils from all over the United States will attend this meeting. DELEGATE CHOSEN Mrs. Charles A. Boynton, 369 Crestline Drive, Salt Lake City, has been appointed a national delegate to the Radcliffe College i ings, beginning April 24th. The Easter services were conducted by the Rev. John Stuart Thornton of Holladay, assisted by some of the Deacons, and the Youth Choir, under the direction of Paul Christensen, provided music. Services wereheldattheEdgemont Elementary School, about 9800 South and Tenth East, on Easter morning. Mevi Church formed An Easter Worship Service marked the beginning of a new Community Church in Sandy, founded under the auspices of the United Church of Christ (Congregational). Dr. Sidney Buck-ha- m, superintendent of the Inter-mounta- in Convention of Congregational Churches, tells us that a site for the church has been selected at 98thSouth and 13th East, and that a parsonage will soon be purchased in White City by the Board of Home Missions of the Congregational Chris t i a n Churches. A search for a Minister is now being made. This will be a Community Church, with members of various denominations participating, and everyone is welcome. The Highland giris will join others from all over the state at the Utah State University during the third week in June to learn how our own state government works and elect their own officers. Later they will choose national representatives to serve as senators at Girls Nation in Wash-ington D. C. Highland High studentbody president for the year 1960 - 61. Max Steele, son of Mr. and Mrs. Max L. Steele, 1956 Imperial Street, will serve as first : X1 ) 7 vice president with Richard Sorenson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Parry D. Sorenson, 2349 Logan Circle, as second vice president. Juanita Collard, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. S. Collard, 2792 Filmore Street, was chosen as secretary, and Candy Anderson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. V. E. Anderson, 1730 Nevada Street, was named historian. Heading the Highland As-sociated Women will be Helen Garff, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Major P. Garff, 2285-20t- h East, assisted by Ann Kingdon, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George T. Kingdon, 2119 St. Mary's Drive, as vice president; and Ann Pingree, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Pingree, 1715 Logan Avenue, as secretary. Bob Fotheringham, son of Mr. and Mrs . Theron W. Fotheringham, 2464 Skyline Drive, was named president of Highland Associated Men. Other officers elected for the boys' association are: Doug Bowers, son of Mr. and Mrs . Doug-lass P. Bowers, 2656 Beverly '' Street, vice president; and Roger Daly, son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter K. Daly, 1399 Parkway, secretary. These officers, as well as senior and junior class officers, were announced during inter-mission at the suspenseful elections dance, April 31, in the gymnasium. Gordon Barton and his orchestra provided music for the evening. Five junior girls have been selected to represent Highland at the annual Girls State. Those chosen from the 32 girls re-commended by senior high Put success before amusement. LEAGUE MEETS Herbert N. Casson. The Women's Architectural League of Utah held its regular monthly meeting on Monday, April 18th, at the Aviation Club at 1:00 p.m. Mrs. Ashley T. Carpenter, program chairman, presented Miss Jean Clements of the Mountain States Telephone Com-pany who spoke on "Color With You in Mind." Hostesses for the regular meeting were: Mrs. Arthur K. Olsen; Mrs. Laurence Farrant; Mrs. W. E. Nelson; and Mrs. James C. Ritchie. Mrs. W. F. Thomas and Mrs. M E. Harris, Jr. conducted a Workshop on the Home Tour. |
