Show Servicemen News Fort Sill, Okla. Army Pvt. Verl L. Casto, 4675 S. Highland Dr., is scheduled to complete eight weeks of advance individual artillery ar-tillery training Sept. 18 at the Artillery and Missile Center, Fort Sill, Okla. Casto is receiving training in the duties of a cannoneer in a 105 millimeter howitzer section. He entered the Army last May and received basic training at Fort Ord, Cal. The 20-year old soldier is a 1957 graduate of Olympus High School and attended the University of Utah. He is a member of Lambda Delta Sigma fraternity. Dugway PiuviiiK ground, Utah-Army Utah-Army PFC Jack Cook, Jr., whose parents live at 1860 E. 3828 So., recently was assigned to the Signal Corps Meteorilogical Company Com-pany at Dugway Proving Grounds. Cook, an electronic instrument repairman in the company, entered en-tered the Army in January 1958 and received basic training at Fort Ord, Cal. He was last stationed sta-tioned at Fort Huachuca, Ariz. Before entering the Army, the 20 -year old soldier was employed by Petty Ford Motor Company. He is a 1957 graduate of East High School. Karlsruhe, Germany--Army Pvt. Norman R. Brown, son of Mrs. Connie V. Carter, 1055 E. 27 So., recently arrived in Germany and is now a member of the 40th Ordnance Company. . Brown, a switchboard operator in the company in Karlsruhe, entered en-tered the Army last February and received basic training at Fort Ord, Cal. The 22-year old soldier is a 1955 graduate of South High School. His father, Willie F. Brown, lives in Nome, Alaska. Brown was employed em-ployed by the Wasatch Line Construction Con-struction Company, Salt Lake City before entering the Army. Fort Ord, Calif---Pvt. Carl A. McGavin, sone of Mr. and Mrs. E. Cecil McGavin, 1336 Roosevelt Ave., completed the eight week general supply course Aug. 14 at Fort Ord, Cal. McGavin received instruction in the fundamentals of Army supply procedures and the preparation of supply records and forms. He entered the Army last April and completed basic training at Fort Ord, Cal. McGavin is a 1954 graduate of East High School and attended the University of Utah. He is a member of Beta Theta Pi fraternity. Furth, Germany Eugene R. Smith, son of Mrs. Evelyn T. Whitehead, 3966 S. 15thE., recently was promoted to private first class in Germany, where he is a member of the 4th armored Division. Smith, a supply clerk in Headquarters Head-quarters Company of the division's 24th Engineer Battalion in Furth, entered the Army in December 1958, completed basic combat training at Fort Hood, Tex., and arrived in Europe las; May. The 24-year old soldier attended at-tended Raft River High School, Malta, Idaho, and was employed by the Southern Pacific R. R. Co. at San Francisco before entering the Army. |
