UTAH THURSDAY SEPTEMBER 3, 1959 PAGE FIVI Teen Talks Highland Hi-Lig- hts by Kathy Schwertz After twelve weeks of parties, summer jobs, and relaxation Salt Lake City school students returned to classes Monday August 31 to begin the 1959-196- 0 school year. With the adoption of the seven-perio- d day Highlanders will be in session thirty minutes more this year. Hello Day activities to-morrow mark the first highlight on the school's social schedule. Wearing name tags .will enable students to meet many new class-mates with special activities during the day promoting better acquaintances and friendships. A special assembly has been planned to introduce administration, faculty, and school officers to all the students and the new pep club will display their uniforms and marching talent for the first time. This group of 70 girls has been meeting early in the morn-ing this summer to prepare for their year of marching at foot-ball and basketball games. Host and hostess, Joe and Flora McEwan at their home, 2045 Wilmington Avenue. Joe and Flora have a lovely patio, beautiful gardens, and a large amusement area. The volleyball, table tennis, and spirited horse-shoe pitching aroused a hearty appetite, and as you can see, the feast is ready. Monday, August 31st, climaxed the end of the summer season with the Ladies Night dinner and program. The first regular fall meeting will be on Monday, Sep-tember 21st, as Labor Day occurs on the usual meeting date.
