Show District and Lt. Duane Rainsville of the Navy Department at the University of Utah will conduct an illustrated slide presentation entitled en-titled ' Your Navy and You." This lecture will include a report on subjects related to atomic submarine . programs of the navy and the sea power of the United States. The son of any Lion anticipating military service in the near future is invited to attend. A presentation will be made to school officials in the form of a check, representing seventy-five percent of the net proceeds from the operetta "Babes in Toyland" which the club produced . last December. Dr. W. Harold Handley, principal of Olympus High School and O. Grant Rowley, vice principal will be guests of honor for the evening and will accept the' contribution. This will enable the school to purchase additional much needed scientific equipment for their educational program. I am not afraid of tomorrow, for I have seen yesterday and I love today. William Allen White Service Clubs The executive secretary of the Sugar House Rotary Club, Mr. Holger Larsen. has been nominated for Governor of District 542 of Rotary by a five-man nominating committee headed by J. Edwin Stein which after careful deliberation, de-liberation, chose this distinguished Sugar House citizen for the honor. a twelve-minute firm entitled, Trouble in Paradise." This film was voted the number one public service film for 1959. Vern Mackay, injured in an accident on the corner of 21st South and McClelland Street, was the recipient of a card signed by the fifty-one couples attending the recent President's Ball at the Country Club. The Independent is happy to report Vern is recovering re-covering successfully. KIWANIS CLUB Kiwanis Club of Sugar House met on Tuesday, February 9. at Harman's Cafe. Speaker was Jay B. Horrocks, G.L.U., assistant manager, Home Office Agency of Beneficial Life. "Fighting inflation is everybody's every-body's job. We all have a stake in it. Jay will define the problem, show what it is doing to us and what we as individuals should do about it." The program will consist of EAST MILL CREEK LION'S CLUB Next regular monthly meeting of the East Mill Creek Lion's Club will be held Thursday, February 11, at Harman's Cafe at 7:00 p.m. An interesting program has been arranged by the program committee.
