The hood, motor, body, and upholstery of the cars were ruined by flying debris, chickens, feathers, and straw which penetrated into all sections, driven by the force of the winds. A surprising aftermath to the destruction was the plague of toads that swarmed the highways in a scrunching, squushing, slithering horde.
