For refreshing drinks, "they are perfect (usually one lime yields Ya cup of juice). Used with melon, in fruit cups, jellied soup, they add a welcome "cool" taste for hot-weath- er meals. With limeades, use watermelon balls as the garnish the color combination is delightful. Limeade Limes, ice water or carbonated water, sugar, watermelon balls, mint. For each limeade pour juice of one lime over ice in tall glass. Add water and desired amount of sugar. Garnish with water-melon balls and mint. Lime Chiffon Pie (Yield: one ch pie) One envelope unflavored gela-tin, Yi cup cold water, 4 eggs, separated, cup lime juice, 1 cup sugar, ft teaspoon salt, 1 teaspoon grated lime rind, V2 cup heavy cream, whipped, 1 ch baked pastry shell or vanilla wafer crust. Soften gelatin in cold water. In top of double boiler, beat egg yolks, then mix in lime juice, y2 ! cup of sugar, and salt. Cook over hot water until mixture thickens slightly, stirring constantly. Add lime rind. Beat egg whites until stiff peaks are formed; gradually beat In remaining cup sugar. Fold in gelatin mixture, then whipped cream. Turn into baked pastry shell or vanilla wafer crust and chill until firm. Standard Optical Holds Open House The newest store In Sugar House, Standard Optical, held its grand opening last Friday and Saturday at its new location, 2190 Highland Dr. An "unusually large" crowd turned out both days to welcome the new store to Sugar House. The two-da- y event featured drawings on valuable prizes, free balloons for the children and free cases, adjustments and elec-tric cleaning for glasses. In its attractive new offices, the store handles a wide selection of eyewear, camera equipment, hearing aids and binoculars. "We're very pleased with the way things went at the grand opening, said Alfred Landvatter, sales and advertising manager, and we're grateful to the people of Sugar House." Yf o Dental Assistants Elect; Hold Board Meeting The new officers of the Utah State Dental Assistants will meet Sunday at 1:30 p.m. at the home of Beryl Larsen 211 K. St. for the first board meeting. Just recently elected were Beryl Larsen, president; Erma Passey, president-elec- t; Twila Thatcher, vice president; Doris Brown, second vice president; Deon Baird, third vice president; Eloise Welchman, secretary and Rosemary Barta, assistant secre-tary. The officers will outline the summer activities for the state organization and the year's pro-gram. Don R. Freebarn, 1817-4t- h East St., was elected Secretary and Eldon D. Clark, 4610-70-0 East St.; Mrs. Madge Fairbanks, 1644 Laird Ave.; Calvin Ashton, 1243 Lorraine Dr., and Kenneth C. Nicholas G. Morgan showed a miniature replica of a statue of Col. Kane to be built in bronze at j a later date. The statue is being j done by Ortha Fairbanks, who scu-- j lpted the statue of Eliza R. j Snow, and also Karl G. Maeser, founder of BYI7. Members of the Battalion were I dressed in full regalia and their j wives were gowned in pioneer !,' fashions of the day. ? n i A barbecue was held May 30th at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Lewis f P. Athas. Mr. and Mrs. P E Ath- - f as, Mr. Ted Passilas, Miss Cath-- erine Lullias, Mr. and Mrs. Chris A patio party was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Orson H. Pratt Saturday night.' Attending the impromptu affair were Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Lee, Mr. and Mrs. Wayn Black, Mr. and Mrs. Garrett Timmerman. The following day they all went to Pine View Dam above Ogden for a boating ex-cursion. Visiting Mr. and Mrs. Keith Sharp are Dr. and Mrs. Jerry Sharp, from Calfornia. Mrs. Sharp is the former Marilyn Nordberg, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Harry S. Nordberg of 1267 E. Stratford Avenue. They will be leaving to go to Chicago and points east before re-turning home. Jerry Sharp is the son of James C. Sharp, 854 West Pohtz, and their four children, f Billy - Tina - Anna and Lex, Mr. j and Mrs. P.D. Paulos, and their three children, Pamela, Tom, and Ann from Magna. i . South Temple. They have been feted at sev-eral dinner parties, and are enjoy-ing seeing old friends on their visit here. Woman's World By Gene Eoenlg "Around The Town" The experience that every boy dreams of and few realize! John Day, 15, son of Mr. and Mrs. C. Nelson Day, has gone for the summer to be chief horse wrangler for the YMCA summer camp for boys and girls. He left on Memorial Day and will be there until September 1st. ' John will be in charge of all the horses and will take the young-ster on rides. Lions Club Meeting Children of Sugar House Lions Club members entertained at the club's weekly meeting Monday night, at Andy's Smorgasbord, 3350 Highland Drive. The youngsters danced and play-ed muscal instruments during their part of the program. A short talk was given by Sherm Lowe, club member and international counse-lor, according to Wilford Kimball, new president. Plans were also announced at the meeting for a family night pic-nic to be held June 17 at Liberty Park. The club will provide free rides for the children and refresh-ments, Mr. Kimball said. The area west of the park con-cessions has been reserved for the event. Starting time is 6 p.m. Duane Wright is in charge of arrangements.
