The home was chosen "Home of the Week." Old Holladay Home Remodeled To Fit Today's Theme of Living Nestled in a rural setting of rail fences and towering cottonwood trees, the beautiful rustic-moder- n home of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Hanes, 1708 East 4800 South, Hoi-llada- y, is a priceless paradox of gracious living. j Native rock combined with Ore-go- n fir blend into the landscape smoothly, and the covered patio jwith a modern charcoal broiler I invites the hungry ones to a lu-cio- us outdoor meal, j The interior is as contrasting as the exterior. Furnished in a combination of period and modern furniture, the entire house is one of the most attractive and livable homes seen in many a day. The great stone fireplace, rust-ic to the point that the moss still clings to the stones, separates the living room proper from what Mrs. Hanes calls her "retreat." This little corner, which can be closed off from the living room with a sliding door, sports a tiny bar, where knick --np knacks from friends and well-wishe- rs fill a cab-inet above the sink. An abundance of cupboards and closets honeycomb the house, and the individuality of every room stands out as you wander from room to room. Mr. Hanes is vice - president of Peerless Supply Company and Mr. Hanes is er of the Nafran Photographers. Placed stretegical-l- y about the lovely home are strik-ing samples of Mr. Hanes' art. Altogether, this one of the out-standing homes in the area, beau-- , tifully modern, yet with an Old World charm. Girl Scouts Learn Folk Dancing Art The art of Folk dancing is be-ing learned by the 14 girls whoj are members-o- f Girl Scout Troop 248. Scout Leader Dorothy Giersz is proud to say that all of the; girls in her troop are availing themselves of this opportunity, which is being made possible by the Marwedell Dance Studio, who once a year offer to the Girl Scouts a series of 12 lessons at a greatly reduced rate. The fourteen girls from Troop 248 will take one lesson a week until the 12 are completed. The common idea that success spoils people by making them vain, egotistic and self - compla-cent is erroneous; on the con-trary, it makes them, for the most part, humble, tolerant and kind. Failure makes people bit-ter and cruel. W. SOMERSET MAUGHAN, The Summing Up (Doubleday). An antique is a piece of furni-ture that is paid for. Banking. We've got the answer !
