After accepting the offer, the Explorers boarded a Navy plane and proceeded to their goal of San Francisco. Upon arriving, they were escorted to the A aval Ease in San Fran-cisco Bay at Treasure Island. They were very fortunate be-cause the new officer's quar-ters on the base had just been completed, and they were set up in these quarters. There was a separate room with a adjoining bath for each boy. The boys toured the city on the evening of their arrival. They visited China Town, ' Fisherman's Warf, and other places of interest. The next morning they had the good fortune of touring San Francisco Bay aboard the S. S. Naifch. a destroyer escort. They were taken thru the entire ship and a guide ex-plained the various features to them.
