Show Independent Purchased r 7i t t - - The South East Independent, Salt i Lake's, oldest weekly, was sold Monday, . June 9th. to Courtney H. and Ruth M. Brewer. Formerly known as the News Bulletin, The South East Independent, Inde-pendent, was owned and operated operat-ed by Clair, and Emma King. They purchased it in January 1955, from Tom and Bob Evans who owned and operated it in American Fork. The Evans bought it from D. James Can non. The South East Independent has been in continuous publication pub-lication for 39 years. After the Kings purchased it they moved all equipment to 1123 East 21st South in Sugarhouse. In November 1957 they moved to the present location, loca-tion, 2020 South Main. The circulation of the South East Independent takes iri all of the South East portion of Salt Lake City and County. In 1955 Mr. Evans purchased the circulation of Out Holladay Way, a publication owned and operated by " Clawson Silver. At the present time another circulation drive is under way, new . members being added to the ever increasing staff and more pages will be added within with-in the next two weeks. "We'll have news and pictures from every section," Mr. Brewer said, "and we'll add, new cor-respondants cor-respondants as fast as we need them." . COURTNEY II. BREWER |
