Southeast Artists Win Prizes Artists from the Sugar House -- southeast area are making names for themselves at the exhibits be-ing held in the City this week. John Mizuno, 1172 Lexington Ave., won Second Purchase Prize of $150 for his water color "Marine Study" now on exhibition at the Kirby Studio in the downtown Medicai Arts Building. Winners of the $25 cash awards were Mrs. Wallace Brooke, 2260 Parleys Terrace; Michael Cannon, 2571 Hillsden Drive; Mrs. George Critchlow, 2231 East 17 South; Alvin Gittins, 1055 So. 12 East; Gil Hall, 2061 East 3900 South; Gus Melin, 1525 Edi-son; and Lin Serebrin, 1449 Ramona. This is the first All Utah juried art show and is sponsored by the Junior League. Here to act as sole Judge is Mr. Lewis Storey of the Denver Art Museum. In Judging he chose the most successful works regardless of "style." "I have looked for high levels of technical proficiency and for sincerity and completeness in the artist's state-ment. I have functioned indepen-dently and without a desire to push the preponderant number of ac-cepted works in any direction, either representational, abstract, or non-objectiv- e," said Mr. Storey. The exhibit will be open from 10 AM to 5:30 PM for the remainder of the week. Also on display at the downtown public library is a series of small sculptures by Maurice Brooks, 1738 South 8th East, who some years ago helped execute the monument on the Sugar House plaza. He also fulfilled a commission for art work in connection with the Los Angeles Temple and at another time for the Sacred Heart Church. The library exhibit is opened to the public during library hours. 2 coats in only 4 hours ).) a dries in 30 minutes tre-co- at in 2 hours --rfTmfSi ' may be brushed, sprayed, or roller :J'r' Lf coated does net darken the wood 'f if Ag A scratch resistant, alcohol resistant i fg f " Mint wallah uu aur ninum onvi AIT LAK CITY, VTA k v ffe s i ? & 1 She's thrown UixV c V , : , I e erytning in our budget L v;,v out oi Kilter . , mfu msMm .... except the little we pay for GAS !
