Show National Officers Paying Visits To SUP Chapters Several chapters of the Sons of Utah Pioneers are being visited by officers of the National Society, SUP, this month. Last Friday, March 22, National Executive Secretary H. Ward Mc-Carty, Mc-Carty, was principal speaker at a dinner meeting of South Cottonwood Cotton-wood Chapter held at Harman's Cafe in Sugar House. His subject was "Ghost Towns of Utah." He also presented President's Certificates Certifi-cates from the National Society for Melvin T. Woolf and Merlin J. Shaw. A mounted section of Promontory Pro-montory Summit Golden Spike rail was also awarded to Mr. Shaw for his efforts in organizing the chapter chap-ter some time ago. ; In the north end of the state, also on Friday evening, National President Horace A. Sorensen presented a charter to the Smith-field Smith-field Chapter in Cache Valley. Edgar Ed-gar Nilson is current president of this group. Pioneer Chapter will meet at Pioneer Village on Friday, March 22, to receive an official charter from the National Society. Chapter President William L. Pulsipher said the group was organized some time ago, but has "not asked for a charter before. Names of almost al-most sixty men will be engraved on the document. |
