Mr. and Mrs. Clissold were marking their wedding an-niversary. Committee for the occasion was headed by Mrs. Floyd Millet, assist-ed by Mrs. Clyde Miller, Mrs. Ray-mond Hilton, Mrs. Milton F. rex-to- n, Mrs. Dean W. Andrus and Mrs. LeGrande M. Silver. Toasts were presented by Wil-for- d Kimball, to the women; Mrs. Wendall Cottrell, to the men; Mrs. LeRoy DeKarver, to the club, and Mrs. Gordon H. Soper, to the future. Sugar House Lady Lions marked their 18th anniversary Monday night at an annual dinner-danc- e amid pink and white decorations in Hotel Utah Roof Gardens. The ballroom was decorated with trees and glittering Easter eggs, carrying out an Easter theme, as 45 couples crowded the dance floor for one of the high-spo- ts of the Sugar House Lions' year. Husbands in the club honored their wives with favors as Alfred Jlollingshaus, president of the men's club, introduced new mem-bers and paid a tribute to the Lady Lions. Welcome was presented by Mrs. Sherman Lowe, president of the ladies organization, and Mrs. Thaynes Entertain Staff At Dinner Friday evening, Mr. and Mrs. William H. Thayne were hosts to members of Thayne-Evan- s, Inc. and their partners, at their charm-ing home on Apache Drive. Dinner was served at 8 p.m. to the follow-ing: Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Evans, Mr.. and Mrs. Melvin Thayne, Mr. and Mrs. M.' F. Sutherland, Mr. and Mrs. Reed Winger, Mr. and Mrs. Even Blomquist, Mr. Murray Bemis and Miss Nancy Wright, Mr. and Mrs. Jean West, Mr and Mrs. Ray Brown, Mr. and Mrs. Al Nelson, Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Housecroft, Mr. and Mrs. Ross Ramsey, Mr. and Mrs. John Hyde, and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Bauer. Mrs. Evans was in charge of the games, and social evening. It Happened at The BEAU JST Nedra Nielsen Brummel started Wednesday, Mar. 20 with the Sugar House C of C having their weekly business lunch-eon. Thursday, Mrs. J. P. Allein has made reservations for eight people at 1 o'clock for a bridge luncheon for her club. Mrs. Devereux Hunt is hostess Thursday for her writing group. There will be eight members present. Mr. and Mrs. Clair Rowsell en-tertained with a dinner party Mon-day evening, March 11, in honor of the combined birthdays of Mrs. Richard Andersen and Mrs. E. H. Buntjer. Besides the honored guests and their partners, also at-tending were Mr. and Mrs. Verl Thornton and Mr. and Mrs. Earl Poulsen. National Officers Paying Visits To SUP Chapters Several chapters of the Sons of Utah Pioneers are being visited by officers of the National Society, SUP, this month. Last Friday, March 22, National Executive Secretary H. Ward Mc-Cart- y, was principal speaker at a dinner meeting of South Cotton-wood Chapter held at Harman's Cafe in Sugar House. His subject was "Ghost Towns of Utah." He also presented President's Certifi-cates from the National Society for Melvin T. Woolf and Merlin J. Shaw. A mounted section of Pro-montory Summit Golden Spike rail was also awarded to Mr. Shaw for his efforts in organizing the chap-ter some time ago. ; In the north end of the state, also on Friday evening, National President Horace A. Sorensen presented a charter to the Smith-fiel- d Chapter in Cache Valley. Ed-gar Nilson is current president of this group. Pioneer Chapter will meet at Pioneer Village on Friday, March 22, to receive an official charter from the National Society. Chapter President William L. Pulsipher said the group was organized some time ago, but has "not asked for a charter before. Names of al-most sixty men will be engraved on the document. Saturday Eve. Guests An "after the symphony" get-togeth- er was enjoyed Saturday at the Ralph Edwards home. Guests included Mr. and Mrs. William K. West, Dr. and Mrs. Richard Bar-ton, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Cutler, Dr. and Mrs. Robert Sutton and Mr. and Mrs. Rod Dicksen. VFW Card Party An annual card party sponsored by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary district 4, will be held Saturday evening March 23, at 8 PM at the Sugar House Post on Highland Drive. Following cards refreshments will be served by the committee in charge Grace Ross, Genevieve Wedding Arrangements Curtis, and Helga Edmonds. Lutheran League Honored In Article Walther League of Redeemer Lutheran Church was honored by an article in the Walther Mess-enger recently. The Messenger is published by the International Walther League of the Lutheran Church. Editors of the magazine described the nativity scene cre-ated for the Christmas season, 1956 by the local young peoples' organ-ization, with Jimmy Floor as pres-ident The local group is already deep in plans for an outside Easter dis-play, to be set up on the church grounds at 1955 East Stratford Avenue. Visitors Mr. Robert Barrett has been host this week to Mr. and Mrs. Robert Doublefield, of Georgetown, Colo. The couple are combining busi-ness and pleasure and enjoying the skiing at Alta. |
