Show Survey Made By Law Student A nation-wide study of censorship cen-sorship of motion pictures and magazines has just been completed com-pleted by J. Roger Noall of Salt Lake City, Utah. The study which was the first of its kind was undertaken by Mr. Noall and another student, Thomas !. Leary of Orange, N. J., in their capacities as Editors of the Harvard Law Review, the legal journal published by honor 3u:Ients at the Harvard Law School. It appears in the December, De-cember, 1957 issue. Mr. Noall conducted over five hundred interviews with motion picture executives, members of censorship boards, law enforcement enforce-ment officers, private attorneys, theater owners, retail dealers and clergymen. The University cf Utah graduate covered 10,000 miles in 17 states, visiting the major cities west of the Mis-! Mis-! sissippi. I The wealth of materials compiled com-piled in the article makes it a pioneering work in the field and is an able contribution to better j understanding of problems of censorship and the individual freedoms which are involved. Noall, who lives at 1487 East 17 Street, Salt Lake City, will receive his law degree next June. |
